26.11.2021 • The Graduation Ceremony of the “International Relations and Diplomacy” 2020-21 Programme

On November 26 th , students of the “International Relations and Diplomacy” 2020-21 programme received their graduation certificates during a ceremony attended by high-ranking diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan handed the certificates to the graduates, congratulating them on completing the academic year in this difficult period and expressed hope that they have benefited from the advantages of the Diplomatic School as an established system. He wished them success and said that from his experience of knowing other alumni of different intakes of the School, who work both at the MFA and outside the diplomatic service, he had the confidence that this group will have a promising future. 18.09.2021 • The launch of the 2021-22 "International Relations and Diplomacy" programme

On September  6 th , the Diplomatic School of Armenia started its 2021-22 “International Relations and Diplomacy” programme. Welcoming remarks at the start of the programme were delivered by   the Director of the Diplomatic School, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan.   Director Gabrielyan congratulated the students on being enrolled in the “International Relations and Diplomacy” programme of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, presented the nuances and particularities of the diplomatic service, briefly introduced the “International Relations and Diplomacy” programme and spoke about the procedures and rules at the Diplomatic School. The first lecture of “Introduction to International Relations” course was delivered by the senior researcher of the Institute of International Relations of the Czech Republic, Professor Petr Kratochvil.  

01.07.2021 • Completion of the “Mid-career training” programme 2021

On   July   1st, the graduates of the   Diplomatic School's   three-month   “Mid-career training”   programme   of   2021 received their graduation certificates.   This programme of the Diplomatic School is designed for diplomats working at the MFA headquarter and officials from different public agencies responsible for external relations. Certificates were handed to the graduates by the Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan, who congratulated them and expressed confidence that the knowledge obtained during the programme will be useful in their   daily   activities and will contribute to their further professional achievements. 

09.06.2021 • Meeting with the Foreign Service Institute of Argentina

On June 9, the Director of the Diplomatic School of the MFA, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan had an online meeting with the Director of the Institute of the National Foreign Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ISEN), International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic, Ambassador Victorio María José Taccetti to discuss upcoming cooperation under the existing cooperation agreement between the two institutions. Ambassador of Armenia to Argentina Hovhannes Virabyan, Ambassador of Argentina to Armenia Mariano Vergara and the Academic Director of the ISEN, Franco Augustin Lucietto also took part in the meeting.

27.05.2021 • Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic School of Armenia and the UN University for Peace

On May 26 th , on the occasion of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic School of Armenia and the UN University for Peace, a meeting took place among Vahe Gabrielyan, Ambassador, Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, David Fernandez Puyana, Ambassador and Permanent Observer, UPEACE Geneva and Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. The participants of the meeting discussed the prospective and projects of cooperation between the Diplomatic School of Armenia and the University for Peace.

25.05.2021 • Doors Open Day at the Diplomatic School

On May 25 th , a doors open day was organized at the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. The visitors had a tour of the premises of the School, got acquainted with its activities and academic programmes, the library and the permanent exhibition dedicated to the 10 th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic School. A question and answer session with the DS Director and staff on the admission procedure for the “International Relations and Diplomacy” programme, the courses taught in the 2021-22 academic year and the diplomatic service followed the tour.

15.02.2021 • Launching the 2021 Consular training programme

On   February   15 th ,   the Diplomatic School   launched   its   annual   “ Consular training ” programme. The lectures are delivered by respective officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other   related   government agencies. 14.09.2020 • Launching the 2020 mid-career training programme

On   September 14 th, the Diplomatic School launched its   2020 programme for mid-career training of diplomats.   The lectures are delivered by   high-ranking diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ,   lecturers and trainers from Armenian and foreign educational institutions.   The over two-month certificate programme   includes lectures aimed at updating the diplomats’ knowledge of Armenia’s foreign policy agenda, as well as developing professional practical skills.   The first   session   of the   programme ,   “The current state of   legislation regulating the diplomatic service   of the RA” what was conducted by   Mr . 18.03.2020 • A Diplomatic School Publication

The Diplomatic School of Armenia has published Negotiations in Multilateral Platforms, a book   by Arman Khachatryan.  The book examines issues related to conducting multilateral diplomacy, the main characteristics of multilateral platforms and multilateral negotiations, as well as strategies and tactics used in these frameworks. Negotiation roles and skills that could be useful within multilateral platforms are also discussed and the behavior of small states is especially highlighted in this context. Briefly reviewing theoretical discussions on international institutions, the author scrutinizes the settings of multilateral platforms that affect negotiations and final decision–making. As in multilateral negotiations states assume certain roles that can be changed, played again or struck out from the repertoire, the author uses the metaphor of a ship and navigation to figuratively describe the distribution of roles in a negotiation process. 13.03.2020 • The end of the Training Course for Journalists

On March 13 th , the Training Course for Journalists writing on foreign affairs-related topics ended at the Diplomatic School and certificates were awarded to the participants. The programme started on March 2 nd and was initiated by the Media and Public Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and implemented with the support of the Diplomatic School. During the course, the heads of relevant departments of the MFA, as well as other employees delivered lectures on topics related to foreign policy. Certificates were handed to the participants and concluding remarks were delivered by the Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia, Ambassador Vahe Gabrielyan and by the Head of the Media and Public Diplomacy Department, Serob Bejanyan. They congratulated the participants on the completion of the programme and expressed the hope that the knowledge obtained during the course would be useful in their professional achievements.
