On March 16th, the Diplomatic School organized a meeting on the history of the Caucasian Albania (Aghvank) and the region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The speakers of the event were Dr. Vahan Ter-Ghevondyan, Director of Matenadaran, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute for Ancient Manuscripts, Dr. Alexan Hakobyan, Head of the Department of the Christian Orient of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Mrs. Hranush Kharatyan, lead researcher at the Ethnology Department of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and Mr. Hayk Hakobyan, junior researcher at the Department of Epigraphy of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

The speakers touched upon issues related to the formation of Caucasian Albania and its relationship with Artsakh and other historical parts of Armenia, the current status of the peoples of Caucasian Albania, as well as the continued and unsubstantiated Azerbaijani attempts to represent the Armenian culture as Albanian. A lively discussion followed and it was agreed that cooperation on this and related topics should be ongoing.
